Thinking About the Future of Libraries in Wayne County, Pennsylvania

I'm in the midst of one of the coolest projects ever right now in Wayne County, Pennsylvania. There, the Wayne Library Alliance, a federated library system, received an LSTA grant from the Commonwealth to redesign the public library. I am one of three consultants on the project that has been given orders to clear the slate and engage the libraries and their communities in thoughtful discussions of the future, new roles for libraries and a sustainable future.

Celebrating Springfield City Library

Over the past few days, I've worked to reconstitute my old Web site to prepare for my new role as an independent library consultant. I definitely had a difficult time deciding what to post here first until I spoke with Molly Fogarty, Library Director at Springfield City Library in Massachusetts. She and I began working together in Fall 2009 on a very comprehensive and rewarding project to build a new strategic plan for the library.  From the start, we both agreed that the same old plan wouldn't do.
